Scarce Phœnix Ironworks Glasgow (Lanarkshire) copper penny token dated 1813. Obverse: Industrial iron foundry with smoking chimneys: “PHŒNIX IRON-WORKS GLASGOW”. Reverse: Justice standing holding sword and scales over bale and barrel: “ONE PENNY TOKEN 1813”. Engrailed edge. Listed in Paul & Bente Withers' “British Copper Tokens 1811-1820” as “SCARCE”. Good collectable condition with a few light digs and edge knocks, see photograph.
