Very Rare Kitchen’s Whitehaven (Cumberland) copper farthing token dated 1812. Obverse: Monogram of “WK” within a circle: “PAYABLE AT WHITEHAVEN”. Reverse: Tea canister within a circle: “FARTHING TOKEN 1812”. Diagonally centre-grained edge. According to Withers, this was most likely issued by William Kitchen, a grocer on Duke Street and latterly Market Place. Listed in Paul & Bente Withers' “British Copper Tokens 1811-1820” as “RR - VERY RARE”. Reasonable collectable condition, see photograph.
