Rare Staffordshire Pottery Penny 1813


Rare Staffordshire Pottery (Staffordshire) copper penny token dated 1813. Obverse: A huge pottery kiln with a workman loading it and legend: “STAFFORDSHIRE POTTERY 1813”. Reverse: Legend on three lines in centre and around periphery: “ONE PENNY TOKEN * FOR PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION”. Centre-grained edge (\\\\\). Listed in Paul & Bente Withers' "British Copper Tokens 1811-1820" as "R - RARE". Good collectable condition but uneven reverse colour, see photograph.
