Scarce Overseers of the Poor Sheffield (Yorkshire) copper penny token dated 1813. Obverse: View of a large Georgian building – the poor house - with legend: “OVERSEERS OF THE POOR 1813 ”. Reverse: Justice standing holding scales with legend: “SHEFFIELD PENNY TOKEN”. Centre grained edge (\\\\\). Listed in Paul & Bente Withers' "British Copper Tokens 1811-1820" as "SCARCE". Good collectable condition with uneven obverse colour, see photograph.
