Newark (Nottinghamshire) copper penny token dated 1811. Obverse: View of Newark Castle: “NEWARK TOKEN FOR ONE PENNY 1811”. Reverse: Legend on six lines in centre: “T STANSALL CHARLES MOORE RICHD FISHER WM FILLINGHAM WM READETT T. WILSON”, and around periphery: “THE CURRENT VALUE PAYABLE IN CASH NOTES”. Centre-grained edge (\\\\\). The merchants in the legend all had businesses in Newark and presumably joined forces to issue the token. Good collectable condition, see photograph.
