Halesowen (Shropshire) Workhouse copper penny token dated 1813. Obverse: View of St. Mary's Church with legend: “PENNY TOKEN PAYABLE AT THE WORKHOUSE * HALESOWEN *”. Reverse: View of a mounted yeoman with sabre drawn charging to left with legend: “GOD SAVE THE KING 1813”. Centre-grained edge (|||||). During the period of issue there were several local local cavalry associations including the Royal Worcestershire Yeomanry. Nice collectable condition, see photograph.
