Edward Beebee’s Bilston (Staffordshire) copper penny token dated 1812. Obverse: Bust of John of Gaunt to the left with legend: “ONE POUND NOTE FOR 240 TOKENS 1812”. Reverse: Horseman holding a baton galloping to the right with legend: “PAYABLE BY EDWARD BEEBEE. BILSTON”. Centre-grained edge. Edward Beebee was a victualler and stonemason who owned the Seven Stars in High Street, Bilston. Nice collectable condition, see photograph. Withers No: 37, Davis Staffordshire No: 35.
