James VI (1567-1625) crude contemporary counterfeit copper hardhead (two pence) issue of 1558. Obverse: Crowned "IR" in centre with botched legend which should read: "+ • IACOBVS • 6 • D • G •R • SCO •", (James by the grace of God King of Scotland). Reverse: Crowned lion rampant again with botched legend which should read: "+ • VINCIT • VERITAS •", (Truth prevails). Good collectable condition for type on a large thin flan, see photograph.
