James VI Eightpenny Groat


James VI (1567-1625) billon eightpenny groat, BEADED inner circles, minted in Edinburgh (1583-1590). Obverse: Crowned lion rampant shield with legend: "IACOB 6 D G R SCO", (James 6 by the grace of God King of Scots). Reverse: Crowned thistle with legend: "OPPID EDINB", (Town of Edinburgh). Nice collectable condition for type on large flan, see photograph.
