James VI Tenth Coinage Six Shillings 1615

James VI (1567-1625) silver six shillings, Tenth Coinage, dated 1615 with thistle mint mark. Obverse: Crowned bust to right with "VI" indicating denomination behind the head. Legend: "IACOBVS D G MAG BRIT FRAN ET HIB REX " (James by the grace of God King of Great Britain France and Ireland). Reverse: Royal shield with Scottish arms in first and fourth quarters and date above. Legend: "QVAE DEVS CONIVNXIT NEMO SEPARET • 1615" (What God hath joined together let no man put asunder). Rarely offered coin in reasonable collectable condition for type having been crimped and straightened. see photograph.
