James VI Silver One Third C/M Sword Ryal 1570

James VI (1567-1625) silver one third ryal (ten shillings), first coinage, before accession to the English throne, dated 1570 with C/M of 1578 revaluation (twelve shillings and three pence). Obverse: Crowned Scottish arms with crowned I and R on either side: "IACOBVS 6 DEI GRATIA REX SCOTORVM", (James VI by the grace of God King of Scots). Reverse: Crowned sword splitting date and hand pointing to value "X" shillings: "PRO ME SI MEREOR IN ME" (For me but against me if I deserve). Ex-Dundee Collection Lot #246, Ex-Brodie Collection. Nice collectable condition on small flan, see photograph.
