James VI (1567-1625) silver one third ryal (ten shillings), first coinage, before accession to the English throne, dated 1570 with C/M of 1578 revaluation (twelve shillings and three pence). Obverse: Crowned Scottish arms with crowned I and R on either side: "IACOBVS • 6 • DEI • GRATIA • REX • SCOTORVM", (James VI by the grace of God King of Scots). Reverse: Crowned sword splitting date and hand pointing to value "X" shillings: "PRO • ME • SI • MEREOR • IN ME•" (For me but against me if I deserve).
