Obverse: Crowned lion rampant shield dividing "MR" with legend: "MARIA DEI G SCOTOR REGINA 1557", (Mary by the grace of God Queen of Scots 57). Reverse: Ornate cross with a cross in the centre panel and a crown in each angle with legend: "SERVIO • ET • VSV • TEROR • 1557", (I serve and am worn by use 1557).
