James IV Edinburgh Plack Lombardic Lettering and Colon Stops

James IV (1488-1513), billon plack (four pence), Edinburgh mint, Type IIa, lombardic lettering and colon stops both sides. Obverse: Lion rampant royal coat of arms in centre with legend: "+IACOBVS : DEI : GRACIA : REX : SCOT". Reverse: Floriated cross fourchée with crowns in angles and saltire in centre with distinctive reverse legend: "VIL | LA : E | DINB | VRGT :". Burns No. 4b, Fig: 682.
