Robert III (1390-1406), silver penny, second issue, Edinburgh mint. Obverse: Neat crowned facing bust with saltire and pellet stops and legend: "+ROBERTVS REX SC[OTOR]V". Reverse: Cross with triple pellets in each quarter, double saltire stops and legend: "VILLA EDI[NBV]RG". This obverse legend not in Burns. Listed in Stewart's "The Scottish Coinage" as "RARE". Good collectable condition for type but with two major edge chips, see photograph.
