Robert III (1390-1406), silver groat (four pence), heavy coinage (1390-1403), first issue, Edinburgh mint. Obverse: Lis and crescent replacing initial cross, crowned facing bust within tressure of seven arcs, triple arc above crown, triple pellets at cusps, lis and crescent stops. Reverse: Long cross with three pellets in each quarter, legend again with lis and crescent stops. Very rare variety, with chipped edge but with main elements visible, see photograph.
