David II First Coinage Second Issue Penny

David II (1329-1371), silver penny, first coinage, second issue (after c.1333) with a mixture of letter sizes in the legends, note the large "E" on the obverse. These were issued without mint or privy marks but are thought to have been minted in Edinburgh. Obverse: Bust type 6 with sceptre and legend: "+DAVID DEI GRACIA". Reverse: Long cross with pierced mullets of six points in each quarter and legend: "REX SCOTTORVM". Nice collectable condition for type with strong portrait, see photograph.
