David II (1329-1371), silver penny, first coinage, second issue (after c.1333) with small letters in legend. These were issued without mint or privy marks but are thought to have been minted in Edinburgh. Obverse: Bust type 6 with sceptre and legend: "+DAVID DEI GRA". Reverse: Long cross with pierced mullets of six points in each quarter and legend: "REX SCOTTORVM". Reasonable collectable condition for type on a small flan, see photograph.
