Alexander III Perth Penny Class "D2/E" Mule


Alexander III (1249-1286), silver penny, second coinage, class D2/E mule with mint mark Cross Potent and barred "A". Obverse:  Bust to left with legend: "+ALEXANDER DEI GRA". Reverse: Two mullets of six points and two stars of seven points giving a total of twenty-six points thus indicating a supposed mint town of Perth, with legend: "REX SCOTORVM+". Good collectable condition with reverse cross ghosting on obverse and professional restoration, see photograph.
