Alexander III (1249-1286), second coinage, silver mule penny, class E2/D. Obverse: Bust to left with unbarred "A" and wedge-tailed "R" in legend reading: "+ALEXANDER DEI GRA". Reverse: Two mullets of six points and two stars of seven points giving a total of twenty-six points thus indicating a supposed mint town of Perth. Legend reads: "REX SCOTORVM+". Legend with fishtail C and the larger of the two R punches used for Class D. Reasonable collectable condition with weak strike on bust and professional restoration, see photograph. Spink No: S.5056.
