Alexander III (1249-1286), second coinage, silver penny, class Mc2/M. Obverse: Bust to left with unbarred "A" in legend reading: "+ALEXANDER DEI GRA". Reverse: Four mullets of six points giving a total of twenty-four points thus indicating a supposed mint town of Berwick. Reverse lettering showing the third, very late T punch with no droops used for M reverses. It also has the very rare late four sided wedge legged R punch found only on a few Class M reverses used with Mc2 obverses. Legend: "REX SCOTORVM+".
