Alexander III (1249-1286), second coinage, silver mule penny, class Bc/M, variety with intermediate face, narrow neck, hair curls below crown and pendant pellets from sceptre. Obverse: Bust to left with legend: "+ALEXANDER DEI GPA". Reverse: Four mullets of six points giving a total of twenty-four points thus indicating a supposed mint town of Berwick with legend: "REX SCOTORVM+". An M reverse with a Class Bc obverse is considered scarce. Good collectable condition with uneven colour, see photograph. Spink No: S.5052(variety of). Diameter 19.1mm.
