Alexander III (1249-1286), second coinage, silver mule penny, class Bb/M. Obverse: Bust to left with legend: "+ALEXANDER DEI GPA". Reverse: Four mullets of six points giving a total of twenty-four points thus indicating a supposed mint town of Berwick with legend: "REX SCOTORVM+". An M reverse with a Class Bb obverse is extremely rare with only one example in Burns, see Fig. No: 146. Lovely collectable condition on a good flan with professional restoration, see photograph.
