Thomas Lundie & Co., Kingston (Jamaica) brass token dated 1844. Obverse: Legend on three curved lines: “THOMAS LUNDAY & Co. * IRONMONGERS * WATER STREET 1844”, note the misspelling of Lundie. Reverse: View of paddle steamer with three masts sailing to left with legend: “EARL OF ELGIN JAMAICA”. Diagonally milled edge. Thomas Lundie brought the paddle steamer “Earl of Elgin” to Jamaica for coastal and inter-island trading. It was later sold to the Haitian Government in 1847.
