Obverse: Heraldic Arms with commerce and justice either side and legend: “BATH TOKEN TWO SHILLINGS” and banner below reading: “TO FACILITATE TRADE”. Reverse: Legend on nine lines: “A POUND NOTE GIVEN FOR TEN TOKENS BY C. CULVERHOUSE I. ORCHARD AND J. PHIPPS”. Diagonally milled edge (/////). Charles Culverhouse was a baker, Isaac Orchard an auctioneer and upholsterer and James Phipps a ladies shoe maker, all with businesses in Margaret's Buildings Bath.
