Sharples' Salisbury (Wiltshire) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1796. Obverse: Detailed view of Salisbury Cathedral with legend: “CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF SARUM”. Reverse: Arms of the Company of Grocers above “GOD GRANT GRACE” banner: “FINE TEAS &c” with date “1796” below. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT I & T SHARPLES SALISBURY – X –”. J & T Sharples were grocers and tea dealers in Salisbury. Salisbury Cathedral is considered one of the finest examples of early English-style architecture in the country.
