Kendal (Westmoreland – now Cumbria) copper Conder
halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: Justice blindfolded standing
holding scales and a sword with legend: “FOR CHANGE NOT FRAUD”. Reverse:
Cypher of “R&D” crested by a lion with legend:
“KENDAL”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE IN LANCASTER LONDON OR BRISTOL”.
Only seven token types were issued for Westmoreland, all for Kendal.
