Scarce Henry Hickman’s Birmingham (Warwickshire) copper Conder farthing token dated 1792. Obverse: Draped bust of John Howard to left with legend: “IOHN HOWARD F. R. S.”. Reverse: A cypher in ornamental script of “H H” (Henry Hickman) with legend: “PROMISSORY . FARTHING . BIRMINGHAM 1792”. Edge inscription: “H. HICKMANS WAREHOUSE BIRMINGHAM”. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as: “SCARCE”. Issued by Henry Hickman, a wholesale and retail dealer in sheet, bar and rod iron with a business at 3, Edgbaston Street, Birmingham. Nice collectable condition on thick flan, see photograph.
