Birmingham (Warwickshire) copper mule halfpenny token dated 1793.
Obverse: Figure of boy with spanner in hand standing by large auger with
legend:
“BIRMINGHAM HALFPENNY 1793”. Reverse: Sailing ship to right with legend:
“SUCCESS TO THE COAL TRADE”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE IN LONDON”, the
rest engrailed. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as:
“SCARCE”.
