Thomas Johnson (Warwickshire) copper penny token dated 1789. Obverse: Bust to left with legend: “THOMAS JOHNSON”. Reverse: Legend: “BELLA! HORRIDA! BELLA!” within circle of leaves with: “SCIENCE AND INTREPIDITY.” around it and date: “1789” in exergue. Plain edge. Thomas Johnson was a prize-fighter and fought Isaac Perrins at Banbury. Nice collectable condition, see photograph.
