John Fincham’s Haverhill (Suffolk) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: Detailed scene of weaver working in a box loom with legend: “HAVERHILL MANUFACTORY”. Reverse: Cypher of “J F” within a dotted oval crested by a hind’s head with a mulberry branch in it’s mouth with legend: “PRO BONO PUBLICO 1794”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT IOHN FINCHAMS SUFFOLK”, the rest engrailed. The cypher and crest are those of John Fincham, who appears to have owned a cloth factory in Haverhill.
