William Rusher's Banbury (Oxfordshire) copper halfpenny token undated. Obverse: Three-quarters bust to right in detailed 18th century costume with legend: "WM. RUSHER HATTER BOOKSELR. & STATIONER. BANBURY". Reverse: The Arms of the Borough of Banbury consisting of a radiating sun with a face on it and legend: "DEUS. EST. NOBIS. SOL. ET. SCUTUM.". Edge inscription: "PAYABLE AT BANBURY OXFORD OR READING". William Rusher was a freeholder earning a living as a bookseller, stationer and hatter in Banbury.
