Spittle's St Paul's Cathedral London Halfpenny 1795

Spittle’s St. Paul's London (Middlesex) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: Detailed view of the west facade of St. Paul's Cathedral with legend: “LONDON AND BRIGHTON HALFPENNY”. Reverse: The arms of the Lashmar family, probably derived from from the town seal of Brighton with legend: “PAYABLE AT THE WAREHOUSE OF I. SPITTLE LONDON OR OF I. KIRBY OR R. LASHMAR BRIGHTON”. Plain edge. This was issued jointly by three tradesmen. James Spittle had a cheesemongers business at 6, Broadway, Blackfriars, London. Richard Lashmar was a shopkeeper in Brighton and Kirby was a grocer, also in Brighton. Reasonable collectable condition, see photograph.
