Skidmore’s London (Middlesex ) copper halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: A register stove with legend: "PAYABLE AT SKIDMORES FURNISHING REPOSITORY NO 123 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON". Reverse: Two men hammering on an anvil beside an open forge with legend: "MANUFACTORY . & . IRON – FOUNDRY . CLERKENWELL . 1795". Diagonally milled edge. John Skidmore ran an iron foundry at 15 Coppice Row, Clerkenwell and was stovegrate maker to His Majesty's Board of Ordnance. His son, Peter was later responsible for the issue of many tokens including the series on London churches. Nice collectable condition, see photograph. D&H Middlesex No: 480. Diameter 29.1mm.
