Rare Hornsey Church London (Middlesex) copper halfpenny token dated 1797. Obverse: View of Hornsey Church surrounded by trees, with legend: "HORNSEY HALFPENNY 1797". Reverse: Legend on four lines between crossed palm and olive branches: "A • SPEEDY. AND. LASTING PEACE.". Engrailed edge. Issuer not traced so probably a specious token. Listed in Bell's "Specious Tokens and those struck for General Circulation 1784-1804" as: “RARE”. Nice collectable condition with collector's number inked on obverse, see photograph.
