Rare Register Office Edinburgh (Lothian) bronzed copper Conder halfpenny token 1796. Obverse: Detailed view of the Register Office situated at the East End of Princes Street, Edinburgh with legend: "EDINBURGH HALFPENNY 1796 - WRIGHT DES - REGISTER OFFICE FOUNDED 1774". Reverse: Figure of Britannia and the front section of a sailing ship with legend: "BRITANNIA". Plain edge. These may have been issued by John Wright who had a business on the High Street, Edinburgh. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as "R - RARE" as only one hundred were said to be issued. Lovely collectable condition with the usual obverse die flaw which later became severe, see photograph.
