Hutchison's St. Andrew & Castle Edinburgh Halfpenny 1791


Hutchison's Edinburgh (Lothian) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1791. Obverse: St Andrew holding saltire cross with thistles either side and legend: "NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT. 1791". Reverse: Edinburgh Coat of Arms beneath anchor with thistles either side and legend: "EDINBURGH HALFPENNY.". Edge inscription: "PAYABLE AT THE WAREHOUSE OF THOS. & ALEXR. HUTCHISON". Thomas and Alexander Hutchison were Edinburgh merchants with a business in the High Street, Edinburgh. Reasonable collectable condition, see photograph.
