Very Rare Campbell’s Snuff Shop, Edinburgh (Lothian) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1796. Obverse: Detailed portrait of a jewelled Turk’s head smoking a pipe with the artist’s name "JAMES" below and legend: "PAYABLE AT CAMPBELLS SNUFF SHOP". Reverse: A snuff jar labelled "37", between two thistles with two crossed pipes above and date below with legend: "SAINT ANDREWS STREET EDINBURGH 1796". Milled edge. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as "RR - VERY RARE". Ex-MacMillan Collection. Good collectable condition with centre of reverse slightly flat as usual for type, see photograph.
