Obverse: The Grocers’ arms consisting of a shield, with a griffin on either side, surmounted by a saddled camel over a banner inscribed “GOD GRANT GRACE” with legend: “MANCHESTER PROMISSORY HALFPENNY 1793”. Reverse: The bale mark of the East India Company in centre with legend: “PAYABLE AT INo FIELDING'S GROCER & TEA DEALER”. Plain edge.
