Scarce Ewing's Glasgow (Lanarkshire) copper Conder farthing token dated 1799. Obverse: Large crowned thistle with legend: "FARTHING PAYABLE AT THE SHOP OF *". Reverse: A tea chest between two sugar loaves and legend: "ALEX.R EWING GROCER * GLASGOW * - 1799 -". Plain edge. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as "SCARCE". Nothing is known of the issuer. Nice collectable condition for type with tiny clip and reverse slightly off-centre as usual, see photograph.
