Smyth's Maidstone (Kent) copper halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: Shield of arms of Maidstone between two native supporters who are each holding a crescent aloft with legend: “MAIDSTONE HALFPENNY”. Reverse: Detailed front view of a paper mill with garlands above and below with legend: “PAYABLE BY J. SMYTH AT PADSOLE PAPER MILL”. Diagonally milled edge.
