Henry Oliver’s Maidstone (Kent) copper gold coloured gilt Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: Shield of arms of Maidstone between two native supporters who are each holding a crescent aloft with legend: “MAIDSTONE HALFPENNY 1795”. Reverse: Standing figure of Justice holding sword and scales with legend: “KENT THE SPRING OF FREEDOM ENGLANDS BLESSING”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE BY HENRY OLIVERS”. Henry Oliver was a cutler with a business in Maidstone. Good collectable condition, gold gilt, see photograph.
