Hider's Hawkhurst Prancing Horse Halfpenny 1794

Hider's Hawkhurst (Kent) copper halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: Sheaf of corn surmounting an ornamental cypher of “C H” with legend: “HAWKEURST HALFPENNY PAYABLE AT”, note the misspelling of Hawkhurst. Reverse: Arms of the County of Kent consisting of a prancing horse in a plain shield with legend: “JUSTICE & CONFIDENCE THE BASIS OF TRADE 1794”. Edge inscription: “CHARLES HIDER’S”, with the remainder diagonally milled. Charles Hider was a freeholder in Hawkhurst. Nice collectable condition, see photograph.
