Scarce William Parris’ Dimchurch (Kent) copper halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: A cypher of W P crested by a standing lamb with legend: “ROMNEY MARSH HALFPENNY 1794”. Reverse: Figure of Justice standing holding sword and scales with legend: “FOR THE HONOUR AND USE OF TRADE.”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT W. PARRIS DIMCHURCH *X*X*X*”. William Parris was a freeholder in Dimchurch. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as “SCARCE”. Nice collectable condition with some original lustre remaining, see photograph.
