Peckham’s Appledore (Kent) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: A man carrying a sack of grain into a windmill with legend: “THE UNION OF APPLEDORE KENT 1794”. Reverse: A lion and a lamb lying together with legend: “PEACE INNOCENCE AND PLENTY”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT W. PECKHAM'S APPLEDORE X.X.X.”. W. Peckham was a general shopkeeper with a business in Appledore. An interesting token engraved by Wyon. Nice collectable condition with some subdued lustre remaining, see photograph. D&H Kent No: 3.
