Scarce Draper's Maldon (Essex) copper Conder halfpenny token undated. Obverse: The Coat of Arms and crest of the town of Maldon consisting of three lions and a ship mounted by a dove: “SUCCESS TO THE BOROUGH OF MALDON”. Reverse: The complete and detailed armorial bearings of the Clockmakers' Company. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT W. DRAPERS WATCHMAKER MALDON ESSEX *XX*”. W. Draper was a watchmaker and milliner with a business in Maldon. Listed in Bell's “Commercial Coins 1787-1804” as: “SCARCE”. Good collectable condition, discoloured, peeling lacquer removed with acetone leaving uneven tone and highly reflective surfaces not picked up in photograph. D&H Essex No: 35. Diameter 28.7mm.
