Scarce Bayly’s Poole (Dorset) copper Conder farthing token dated 1795. Obverse: Figure of Hope, leaning on an anchor and holding a shield on which is inscribed: “JAS. BAYLY DRAPER POOLE” with retrograde “S”. Reverse: Shield of arms of the town of Poole consisting of an elaborate dolphin beneath three scallop shells: “PROSPERITY TO THE TOWN OF POOLE * 1795 *”. Plain edge. James Bayly was a linen and woollen draper with a business in Poole. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as: “SCARCE”. Good collectable condition, see photograph. D&H Dorset No: 11a.
