Bayly’s Poole (Dorset) copper Conder farthing token dated 1795. Obverse: Figure of Hope, leaning on an anchor and holding a shield on which is inscribed: “JAS. BAYLY DRAPER POOLE”. Reverse: Shield of arms of the town of Poole consisting of an elaborate dolphin beneath three scallop shells: “PROSPERITY TO THE TOWN OF POOLE * 1795 *”. Diagonally milled edge. James Bayly was a linen and woollen draper with a business in Poole. Good collectable condition, discoloured, peeling lacquer removed with acetone leaving highly reflective surfaces not picked up in photograph, small flan flaw. D&H Dorset No: 10. Diameter 23.3mm.
