Samuel Kingdon's Bishop Blaize Exeter Halfpenny 1792

 

Samuel Kingdon’s Exeter (Devonshire) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1792. Obverse: Three-quarter standing figure of Bishop Blaize (patron saint of woolcombers) holding a book in his right hand and a wool comb in his left: “SUCCESS TO THE WOOLLEN MANUFACTORY.”. Reverse: Exeter coat of arms: “EXETER HALFPENNY 1792”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT THE WAREHOUSE OF SAMUEL KINGDON . X .”. Good collectable condition, discoloured, peeling lacquer removed with acetone leaving reflective surfaces not picked up in photograph.
