Adam Simpson's Chesham Halfpenny 1795

Adam Simpson's Chesham (Buckinghamshire) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: Lion rampant wielding sabre, balanced on castle turret, above "AS" cypher: "CHESHAM HALFPENNY TOKEN". Reverse: Shield of arms consisting of a leopard beneath three crescents, above banner: "CAREFULLY LEARN RELIGIOUS WAYS", legend: "FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD 1795". Edge inscription: "PAYABLE AT ADAM SIMPSONS X.X.X". This is the only Conder token issued for Chesham. Adam Simpson was a draper with a business in Chesham. Good collectable condition, discoloured, peeling lacquer removed with acetone leaving reflective surfaces not picked up in photograph.
