Dundee Sentinel & Scales Farthing


Dundee (Angus) copper Conder farthing token undated. Obverse: Pair of scales above cypher, “J M & Co PAYABLE ON DEMAND DUNDEE”, the down stroke of the “M” points between the “D” and “U”. Reverse:  A soldier on guard duty with bayonet on musket stands between the breech of a canon and a turret. Plain rounded edge. It is thought that the issuer was a grocer near the barracks, hence the sentry. Lovely collectable condition, see photograph.
